GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's golf team is set to host the 2008 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. on Oct. 19-21 at the par-71, 5,939-yard Greenville Country Club.
The Pirates (28-9-1) claimed a share of first place in their last event at the UNCG-Starmount when they carded a 54-hole score of 894 (295-298-301), the sixth-lowest score in school history. Junior Abby Bools picked up her 12th career Top 10 finish after posting a tournament score of 220 to claim second place. She recorded 35 pars and seven birdies, including five on day one resulting in an opening round 68, which tied her career-best round.
This year's tournament features 21 teams and consists of Appalachian State, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Elon, Florida International, Gardner-Webb, Georgetown, Georgia State, High Point, James Madison, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, Old Dominion, Presbyterian College, Richmond, UTEP, Western Carolina, William & Mary, Winthrop and Xavier.
First and second round action will begin Sunday and Monday morning at 8 a.m., while the final round on Tuesday will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
