WILMINGTON, N.C. - With early rain giving way to sunny skies, the Iowa's men team maintained its lead heading into Sunday's final round of The Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall's Jack Nicklaus course.
Individually, Iowa's Vince India, Virginia Tech's Garland Green and VCU's Rafael Campos are locked in a three-way tie for first place in the men's standings at two-over. ECU junior Tripp Brizendine (72-78=150) is tied for seventh place at six-over. Senior Andre Thorsen (74-80=154) shot eight-over Saturday and fell to 10-over and tied for 17th.
In the men's team competition, the Hawkeyes surrendered part of their massive 22-stroke first-round cushion, but still carry an 11-stroke margin into the final day. Iowa owns a score of 22-over (286-312=598), a working advantage over No. 25 Tulsa who stands at 33-over (308-301=609). ECU dropped to eighth place with a two round score of 48-over (309-315=624).
India, meanwhile, blistered the course with a four-under 68 on opening day, but fell into a tie for first place in the individual race after ballooning to a six-over 78 Saturday. Campos and Green both fired a one-under 71 in the second round and all three players are knotted with 146 totals. Last year's medalist, Tulsa's Nicolas Geyger, trails the leaders by just one shot with three-over (74-73=147) scorecard..
Sunday's final round begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
