Bools Takes Second At Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Abby Bools carded a tournament-low round of 68 Sunday afternoon to claim second place at the 2008 Women's Landfall Tradition, her fourth top-five finish of the fall season. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,117-yard Ocean Course at Landfall.
The reigning Conference USA Golfer-of-the Week entered the final round tied for 14th and after recording six birdies on the afternoon finished with a four-over par 220 (78-74-68) two shots behind medalist winner Dolores White (218) of Wake Forest.
Fellow Pirate Amber Littman claimed a share of fourth with Natalie Sheary (Wake Forest) after posting her third consecutive round of 74 to finish with a tournament score of 222. For Littman, it was her seventh career top-10 finish, 11th career top-20 placement and she finished in the top-15 in all five fall events this season.
Colleen Estes improved her standing on the final day claiming a share of 41st after a three-over par 75 to finish at 239 (86-78-75), Ana Maria Puche (241) carded a 79 to finish in a tie for 43rd, while freshman Amy Otteson (88-87-81=256) finish 59th.
The Pirates (922), who are ranked No. 49 by Golfstat, finished sixth after a final round of 296 finishing five strokes ahead of No. 29 Notre Dame (927) and 14 shots in front of No. 30 N.C. State (936). The team title went to No. 12 Wake Forest, who led wire-to-wire posting rounds of 297, 288 and 295 to finish with a 56-hole score of 880, three shots off the tournament record. Fourteenth-ranked Ohio State (908) took second, while No. 42 Michigan (916) and No. 10 North Carolina (916) tied for third and No. 22 Florida (919) took fifth.
ECU finishes the fall season with 52-14-2 record, which includes three top-three finishes and five top-six placements. The Pirates will be back in action on Feb. 9, 2009 when the open spring-play at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
