Men's Golf Concludes Fall Season At Landfall

WILMINGTON, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team concluded its fall season with a ninth place at the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall's Jack Nickalus course on Sunday afternoon. The Pirates finished with a three-round team total of 54-over 918 (309-315-294).
ECU senior Andre Thorsen fired an even-par 72 on the final 18 holes to finish tied for 17th place at 10-over (74-80-72=226). Junior Tripp Brizendine carded a 54-hole score of 13-over 229 (72-78-79) to earn a 22nd place finish. Freshman Jake Colley (85-78-72=235) finished tied for 35th, while sophomore Warren Straub (78-80-79=237) tied for 42nd and freshman David Watkins (95-79-71=245) placed 51st.
Iowa, who won the team title with a final scorecard of 24-over 888 (286-312-290), placed three players among the top seven finishers. The Hawkeyes wound up 12 shots better than second-place Tulsa at 900. VCU came in third at 908, Virginia Tech finished fourth at 914 and host UNC Wilmington was fifth with a 915 score.
VCU's Rafael Campos, a junior from Guaynabl, Puerto Rico, entered the final round locked in a three-way tie for first, but broke away for a two-stroke victory by shooting one of seven sub-par rounds on the day in the 12-team men's field. Iowa's Vince India and Wisconsin's Danny Zimmerman tied for second with 219 totals.
East Carolina will begin its spring season in Orlando on February 23.
