Puche named C-USA Golfer-of-the-Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina's Ana Maria Puche picked up her first career weekly honor as she was named Conference USA Golfer-of-the-Week league officials announced today.
The Barranquilla, Colombia native carded a personal-best 54-hole score of 222 (78-73-71) to take sixth place at the 2008 Windy City Collegiate Classic in Evanston, Ill.. Heading into final round action, where she was tied for 16th, Puche posted a career-low round of 71 (one-under par) to claim her fifth career Top 10 finish.
For the tournament, Puche registered nine birdies, including four on the final day and helped the Pirates (16-6) to a share of sixth place.
Puche and the Pirates will be back in action Oct. 12-14 when they participate in the 2008 UNCG/Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
