
Women's Golf Opens Spring Play In Miami

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team will open up spring action this weekend when they travel to Miami Lakes, Fla. to participate in the 2008 Qdoba Invitational Golf Tournament. The event is being played at the par-72, 6,210-yard Don Shula Golf Club.
The Pirates, who are ranked No. 22 by Golfweek, have posted a 59-14 record on the season and have claimed the team titles in four-of-five events played this season, which is a school record.
This year's tournament, former the Papa John's Intercollegiate, features 12 teams and consists of Coastal Carolina, (22) East Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, (29) Louisville, Univ. of Miami, Mississippi State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Southern Miss, USF and (23) Virginia.
In last year's event, the Pirates finished tied for third with a 54-hole score of 932 just behind Louisville (924) and San Jose State (926). ECU placed four golfers in the top-30 with Jessica Hauser claiming the Pirates top spot with a share of seventh.
First round action will begin Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start, which will be followed by an Monday and Tuesday's 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts. Pirate fans can catch all the action online at www.golfstat.com.
