
Pirates Tied For Third At Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. - The nationally-ranked East Carolina women's golf team fired a first-round score of 313 at the Pinehurst Challenge and currently sit in a tie for third place. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,968-yard Pinehurst No. 8 in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Pirates (70-14-0) are six strokes behind tournament leader East Tennessee State (307) and two shots from second, which is occupied by UT-Chattanooga (311). Tied with the No. 19 Pirates in third is UNC-Greensboro, while Boise State rounds at the top-five with a score of 314.
Senior Emelie Lind posted a three-over par 75 (36-39) and is in a five-way tie for third place. Fellow Pirate golfers Colleen Estes (38-40) and Ana Maria Puche (38-40) are tied for 20th after first-round scores of 78. Sophomore Abby Bools recorded a 10-over par 82 (40-42) while freshman Amber Littman (41-43=84) was 12-over par.
College of Charleston's Steffi Kirchmayr shot a 73 and is tied for the lead along with Chattanooga's Christine Wolf.
The teams tee off in a shotgun format at 11:30 a.m. Monday for the second round.
