ECU Finishes Fifth At Bryan National

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The East Carolina women's golf team earned a fifth-place finish at the prestigious Bryan National Collegiate Sunday afternoon. The Pirates finished ahead of four Top 25 programs, including eighth-ranked Georgia.
The Pirates recorded rounds of 305-206-291 to finish 15 strokes behind tournament winner LSU, which is ranked ninth in the latest Golfstat rankings. Third-ranked Virginia finished second followed by No. 11 Wake Forest in third and 13th-ranked North Carolina in fourth.
ECU also finished ahead of No. 16 Michigan State and No. 24 Arkansas, which tied for ninth place and in front of No. 18 Louisville which placed seventh. Georgia finished tied for 14th with Notre Dame.
Pirate junior Abby Bools (75-73-70=218) carded a two-over to earn a tie for second-place, three strokes behind LSU's Megan McChrystal (73-73-69=215), who fired a one-under. Nannette Hill (75-68-75=218) of Wake Forest also fired a two-over to finish tied for second.
Ana Maria Puche (77-77-73=227) finished at 11-over tied for 20th, while Amber Littman (76-79-73=228) tied for 25th at 12-over. Colleen Estes (77-83-77=237) finished the tournament at 21-over and Amy Otteson (90-77-75) completed the 54-hole event at 26-over.
The Pirates will begin their quest for their second Conference USA Championship in school history Sunday, April 12, at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
