GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team is set to host the 2010 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. on Oct. 11-12 at the par-71, 6,040-yard Greenville Country Club.
The Pirates, who have finished second the last two years, are joined in the 16-team field by No. 55 Augusta State, Charleston Southern, Elon, Gardner-Webb, Georgetown, Longwood, Memphis, No. 79 Maryland, UNC Wilmington, Old Dominion, No. 83 Pennsylvania, Radford, Richmond, USF and William & Marh.
Elon's Tara McFadden (2009 individual winner) is the lone returning medalist from 2009.
Since the event began in 2000, the Pirates have claimed three titles (2000-02), finished second three times (2003, 2008-09) and third once (2004).
ECU's Amber Littman and Fanny Wolte will begin play on the first hole, while Amy Otteson and Colleen Estes start from the second tee and Julia Strandberg from the third hole. Redshirt freshman Faith Hardison and true freshman Andrea Estes, who are playing as individuals, will tee off from the 18th hole.
The two-day 54-hole event will have 36-holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. on both days. Pirate fans can catch all the live action by logging onto www.Golfstat.com or www.ECUPirates.com.
