
ECU Sets School-Record In Las Vegas

BOULDER CITY, Nevada - The East Carolina women's golf team carded a school-record 10-under par 278, moving seven spots up the leader board to a tie for sixth place at the 2010 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The event is being held at the par-72, 6,329-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Pirates (31-7-1), who topped the old 18-hole score by five strokes, posted the fourth-lowest round of the day. Nineteenth-ranked Arkansas (553) continued its dominance on day two recording a 12-under par 276 and holds an 18 shot lead over No. 11 Arizona (571) who also posted a 12-under 276 on Tuesday. Kent State (No. 26) is third with a 36-hole total of 573, while No. 35 Louisville (574) and No. 43 Minnesota (581) round out the top-five.
Amy Otteson recorded the best round of the day with a seven-under 65 (33-32) besting the old Pirate record by two shots, which was previous held by Ashley Leonard (2002), Lene Krog (2007) and Amber Littman (2009). Otteson jumped 60 spots and is tied for 24th with a two-day total of 146 (81-65).
Littman bettered her opening round score of 69 with a four-under 68 and is currently tied for second place with Arkansas' Kelli Shean (70-67) at 137. Both golfer's trail Emily Tubert (Arkansas) by six shots, who also fired a second round 68, and boasts an impressive 36-hole score of 131 (-13). Martina Gavier (Kent State) sits alone in fourth with a score of 138 (70-68), while Therese Koelbaek (UNLV) and Kayla Mortellaro (Idaho) are tied for fifth at 140.
ECU freshman Fanny Wolte (148) recorded an even-par round 72 to finish the afternoon tied for 39th. Colleen Estes (151) holds a share of 60th place after a one-over 73 and Julia Strandberg (160) is 91st after her six-over 78.
