Bools Finishes Fourth At Edwin Watts

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - East Carolina senior Abby Bools shot an even round par 72 (36-36) during the third and final round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic to finish fourth out of 172 golfers. The event was being held at Cougar and Oak Points in Kiawah Island, S.C.
Bools, who entered final round action tied for ninth, posted the seventh lowest round of the day and recorded two of her 10 birdies at holes No. 3 and No. 11. She finished the three-day event with a score of 218 (71-75-72), five shots behind co-champions Nina Muehle (ETSU) and Crystal Reeves (Oral Roberts) who each shot 213. Middle Tennessee State's Morgan Hale (75-70-70=215) finished third, just two strokes back.
ECU (67-41-1) finished in a tie for fourth place with Oral Roberts with a 54-hole score of 897. Throughout the three-day event the Pirates were among the tournament leaders, where they were second after Sunday's action and tied for second enter playing on Tuesday.
Miami, which started the day tied for seventh, shot a 289 to finish with an 892 narrowly beat out Minnesota (893) by one stroke to take the team title and Augusta State took third with an 895.
Amber Littman (227) finished tied for 30th after posting a final round of 81, while Ana Maria Puche (230) took a share of 47th. Rounding out the Pirates roster were Amy Otteson (231) who finished tied for 57th and Colleen Estes (236) who was tied for 78th.
The Pirates will hit the links again on Mar. 1 when they head south to Orlando, Fla. to participate in the UCF Challenge.
