Pirates Finish 13th At UCF Challenge

Sorrento, Fla. - East Carolina sophomore Amy Otteson carded a final round 77 and finished with a 54-hole score of 228 to take a share of 26th place at the 2010 UCF Challenge Tuesday afternoon. The event was being held at the par-72, 6,301-yard RedTail Golf Club.
Otteson birded a pair of holes on the day, while paring nine in her five-over par round. Senior Abby Bools finished one stroke behind Otteson with a tournament score of 229 after a final round 75, three-over par. Rounding out the Pirates squad was Colleen Estes (237/t53rd), Amber Littman (239/t61st) and Ana Maria Puche (242/t69th).
Julia Boland (Texas A&M) took home medalist honors after firing an impressive 210 (six-under par) five strokes ahead of teammate Sarah Zwartynski, 215. South Florida's Rachel Edwards (217) took home third place, while Charlotte Cothran (Baylor) and Natalie Wille (Augusta State) tied for fourth place with tournament scores of 218.
With the one-two finish from Boland and Zwartynski, the Aggies claimed the team title with an 893 (293-305-295) finishing two shots ahead of Augusta State (292-299-304=895). Coastal Carolina (904) finished third, while the College of Charleston (905) and Baylor (907) finished fourth and fifth respectively. ECU finished 13th after posting a 54-hole score of 928 (311-305-312).
The Pirates (69-53-1) will be back in action on March 7-9 when they participate in the Eagle Landing Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
