Bools Takes 10th At Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. -East Carolina senior Abby Bools recorded her 21st career Top 10 finish Tuesday afternoon at the Pinehurst Challenge with a 54-hole score of 223, which was good enough for 10th place. The event was being held at the par-72, 5,992-yard Pinehurst No. 6.
Bools, who entered final round action in a tie for 12th, posted a final round score of 72 to move up two spots, topping the Pirates squad. The Hickory, N.C. native fired 39 pars during the two-day event and ranked among the leaders in par-5 scoring (4.75).
Sophomore Amy Otteson recorded her sixth career Top 20 finish with a tournament score of 226 (77-76-73) to claim a share of 18th. Amber Littman tied for 51st with a score of 234 (77-77-80), while Ana Maria Puche (76-82-79=237) and Colleen Estes (87-81-79=247) took home a share of 58th and 82nd place respectively.
Florida State won the tournament with a three-round total of 863, with Maryland in second with an 896. Host school Charleston and UNC Greensboro finished ninth just one stroke behind East Carolina.
Seminole Lacey Agnew took home medalist honors with a 212, while Terrapin Christine Shimel was second with a 214.
The Pirates will take some time off before returning to the links on April 10 when they host North Carolina and Virginia in a Tri-Match at Ironwood Country Club.
