Result: East Carolina finishes 14th out of 17 teams (45-over, 909)

SORRENTO, Fla. - Senior Amber Littman shot a two-over par 72 in the final round, finishing tied for 16th place on the last day of the UCF Challenge at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla. For Littman, it was her fourth Top-20 finish of the season and 24 of her career.
Littman finished with a 54-hole score of 219 (70-75-74/three-over) after registering a birdie and three bogeys on Tuesday. The Stoney Creek, N.C. native ranked among the tournament leaders in par-4 scoring (4.10), par-5 scoring (4.75) and recorded nine total birdies.
Freshman Fanny Wotle (226) finished tied for 40th after posting back-to-back rounds of three-over par 75, which included two birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey during her final round. Amy Otteson (233) dropped one spot from Monday into a tie for 58th after a final round 79. Rounding out the Pirates roster were Colleen Estes (235) and Faith Hardison (244), who finished tied for 67th and 87th respectively.
Coastal Carolina was the champion in the 2011 UCF Challenge winning by the narrowest margin of victory in the events five-year history. One shot was the difference between Coastal Carolina 867 (+3) and second place, No. 14 Tulane. The Green Wave's three-day total of 868 (+4) was also one shot better than third place finisher Minnesota which posted an 869 (+5). Kentucky came in with an 881 (+17) which was good enough for fourth place followed by No. 19 Texas and No. 35 South Carolina which tied for fifth at 882 (+19). The Pirates finished 14th with an event score of 909 (299-304-306).
For the first time in the short history of the UCF Challenge, the individual winner did not come from the team champion. Ashleigh Albrecht of Kentucky and Teresa Puga of Minnesota finished the final round tied at the top of the leaderboard with a three day total of 208 (-8), forcing a two-hole playoff. Albrecht and Puga both parred both of the two playoff holes, making them co-medalists.
The Pirates will be back in action on Feb. 27 when they travel to Valdosta, Ga. to participate in the Kinderlou Forest Challenge.
