Final Barefoot Challenge Results
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - East Carolina freshman Fanny Wolte carded a final round two-under par 70 to record her first collegiate individual title with a 54-hole tournament score of 214 at the inaugural Barefoot at the Beach Challenge held at the par-72 Davis Love Course at the Barefoot Resort.
Wolte, who fired a tournament-low 69 in the first round, along with Amy Otteson (third/223), Colleen Estes (t-6th/225) and Amber Littman (t-16th/229) helped the Pirates record their second team title. Sarah Almond finished tied for 49th with a score of 238, while Julia Strandberg took home a share of 77th place (258) as an individual.
ECU finished with a three-day total of 891 (292-294-305), nine shots ahead of Wisconsin (900) and 12 ahead of East Tennessee State (903). Kennesaw State (916) and tournament host College of Charleston (918) rounded out the Top-5.
Wolte led the entire 84-person field in par-3 scoring (2.67), par-4 scoring (3.90) and birdies (14).
The Pirates will be back in action on Friday, March 11 when they head to Jacksonville, Fla. to participate in the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational.
