Pirates Move Into Third at C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Ark. --- East Carolina shaved eight strokes off its score and moved into third-place Monday following the second round of play at the 2012 C-USA Men's Golf Championship on the par 72, 6,935-yard Texarkana Country Club. ECU began the day in seventh-place.
The Pirates (295-287=582) trail tournament leader Memphis (282-289=571) by 11 strokes and second-place UCF (290-284=574) by eight strokes. The trio will tee off the final championship round at 9:50 a.m. EDT Tuesday.
ECU holds a one stroke lead over fourth-place UAB (292-291=583) and a two-shot lead over fifth-place SMU (284-300=584).
Senior David Watkins carded the Pirates' low round of the day, shooting a 2-under 70 to move to 1-under 144 through 36 holes. Watkins is tied for seventh and is among nine players under par.
Ryan Eibner and Adam Stephenson are tied for 18th at 3-over 147 with Harold Varner sitting in 22nd at 4-over 148 and Zach Edmondson tied for 25th at 5-over 149.
UCF's Greg Eason and Houston's Roman Robledo are tied for the overall individual lead at 6-under.
