Men's Cross Country Takes Third at Wolfpack Invitational

CARY, N.C. - The East Carolina men's cross country team recorded a third place finish, while the women's team took fifth, at the 2013 Wolfpack Invitational Friday evening at the WakeMed Cross Country Course.
Redshirt junior Chase Miller led the men's team with a 10th-place finish in a time of 15:12.8. Senior Jakub Trzasalski was the next Pirate runner to cross the finish line, taking 15th place at 15:28.8. Redshirt sophomore Brather Cline finished just outside the top 20 in 21st place when he stopped the clock at 15:44.3
The squad accumulated 82 points overall, finishing behind NC State, who won the meet with 20 points, and North Carolina who took second place with 65 points.
On the women's side, the Pirates totaled 117 points and were led by redshirt senior Brooke Kott's 20th-place finish in 17:57.7. Redshirt junior Stefanie Fresenius crossed the finish line in 28th place with a time of 18:15.4, followed by freshman Sydney Teague in 29th place at 18:23.2.
East Carolina's 117 points trailed Duke (23), NC State (41), Bull City TC (93) and North Carolina (102).
ECU will host its annual Pirate Invitational at Lake Kristi next Friday, Sept. 27. Admission is free for all fans and spectators.
