
Play Suspended In Durham With ECU In Second-Place

DURHAM, N.C. --- East Carolina posted a 7-under 281 during the first round of the Rod Myers Invitational and was 13-under when play was officially suspended Saturday eveing at the Duke University Golf Club due to extensive lightning in the area. Teams will return to action Sunday morning at 9 a.m. to complete the second round and the tournament will be reduced to a 36-hole event.
The Pirates are two strokes behind North Carolina, which posted a 10-under 278 in the first round and if 5-under midway through the second round. No. 8 Baylor is in third-place at 9-under. ECU is on holes 1-6 in the second round, while North Carolina and Baylor are on holes 6-10.
ECU junior George Kilgore is currently tied atop the inidivdual leaderboard with UNC's Ben Griffin at 7-under. Kilgore is thorugh six holes in the second round with Griffin through eight. North Carolina's William Register is one shot back through 24 holes of play. Kilgore fired a first round 68.
Junior Al Dickens is tied for fifth-place through 22 holes. He shot an opening round 71 and is 2-under after four holes played in round two. Jacob Hicks has also completed 22 holes of golf and is tied for 14th. He fired an opening round 2-under 70 and is 1-over through his first four hole sof round two.
Junior Wes Conover and freshman Tim Conover are tied for 25th. Wes carded a par 72 in the opening round and played one hole in round two before play was susupended. Tim shot a 3-over 75 during the first round and stands at 2-under through his first six holes of round two. Both players stand at 1-over-par.
