Spang Cards A 68 On Second Day At UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. - East Carolina junior Frida Gustafsson Spang continued her early stellar play in the Spring posting a 4-under 68 Monday afternoon during second round action at the UCF Challenge. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Spang, who is currently tied for fourth at 7-under with a score of 137, closed the gap pulling within one stroke of co-leaders Chonlanda Chayanun (Iowa State), Lauren Coughlin (Virginia) and Silvia Garces (Tulane) who all stand at 8-under (136).
Pirate senior Katie Kirk bested her Sunday round by two shots carding a 1-under 71 and is tied for 29th at 144 (even-par). Juniors Nicoline Engstroem Skaug (148/4-over) and Lane Gakeler (153/9-over) are tied for 54th and 84th, while freshman Lisa Pettersson (154/10-over) is tied for 90th.
Seventeenth-ranked Virginia (557/19-under) overtook the team lead following a 13-under round of 275 Monday and holds a two-shot lead over No. 14 Vanderbilt (559/17-under). Tulane (560) made the biggest jump on the day after a second round score of 17-under par into third place. Rounding out the top five are host UCF (564) and Iowa State (567).
