CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The East Carolina women's golf team posted an opening-round 298 (14-over) and is currently tied for 11th at the Hurricane Invitational. The three-day event is being held at the par 71, 6,070-yard Biltmore Golf Course.
Senior Katie Kirk led the Pirates with an even-par 71 round and is tied for 11th place just three shots behind tournament co-leaders Hana Lee and Kaitlin Park, both from Northwestern.
Junior Frida Gustafsson Spang posted a first round scored of 73 (2-over) and is tied for 26th. Fellow classmates Lane Gakeler and Nicoline Engstroem Skaug are tied for 60th following rounds of 77 (6-over), while freshman Lisa Pettersson is one stroke back at 78 (7-over) and is tied for 72nd.
Northwestern lead the tournament with a 4-under par 280 and holds a three-shot lead over Louisville (283/1-under) with 36 holes remaining.
