Kirk Sits In Second At River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. - East Carolina senior Katie Kirk fired rounds of 74 and 70 during the first day of the River Landing Classic and currently sits in second place with an even-par 144. The two-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,082-yard River Landing Golf Course.
Kirk, who is one-shot behind tournament leader Maggie Simmermacher (ODU), carded four birdies, four bogeys and 28 pars on the day. After an opening score of 74 (2-over) she posted a 2-under 70 which included birdies on No. 4, No. 7 and No. 11.
Nicoline Engstroem Skaug is currently tied for eighth with a four-over 148 (76-72), which consisted of four birdies, eight bogeys and 24 pars. Rounding out the Pirates roster are Frida Gustafsson Spang (t40th/156), Lisa Pettersson (t40th/156) and Emily Eng (66th/172).
Delaware (593/17-over par) holds a two shot lead over James Madison (595/19-over) and Columbia (595/19-over), and a 10 shot advantage over Eastern Michigan, co-host UNC Wilmington and co-host East Carolina, who are tied for fourth at 603 (27-over).
