ECU Claims Fourth Place At Irish Creek Collegiate

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team shot 7-over-par 291 in Sunday's final round of the Irish Creek Collegiate to finish the tournament in fourth-place at 8-over-par 860 (287-282-291).
The Pirates finished seven strokes behind tournament champion and fellow American Athletic Conference member USF (+1) and six strokes behind runner-up North Florida (+2). Kennesaw State finished the tournament in third-place at 4-over-par, four strokes ahead of the Pirates.
Wes Conover shot 1-under-par 70 in the final round to finish in a five-way tie for 12th-place individually at 1-over-par 214. Jackson Spires was also part of the five-way tie after posting a final round 3-over-par 74. George Kilgore finished one stroke behind his teammates in 17th at 2-over-par 215 with a third round tally of 4-over 75.
Jacob Hicks shot 1-over-par 71 in the final round to finish in a tie for 23rd-place at 4-over-par 217. Al Dickens posted a final round 4-over-par 75 to finish 11-over-par in a tied for 52nd-place.
USF's Rigel Fernandes, North Florida's Taylor Hancock and Kennesaw State's Fredrik Nilehn finished tied for individual medalist honors at 5-under-par 213.
The Pirates have two weeks of practice before heading to the American Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship in Ocala, Fla.. The tournament will be held at Black Diamond Club and runs April 26-28.
