MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - East Carolina carded an opening day score of 590 (14-over) and currently sits in second place at the Minnesota Invitational after two rounds of play. The two-day, 54-hole event is being played at the par-72 Minikahda Club.
The Pirates, who posted an opening round of 301 (13-over), moved from ninth place after 18-holes to second following a 289 (1-over) and is four shots behind tournament leader Purdue (586). Illinois (592) is currently third, while American Athletic Conference foe Houston (596) and host Minnesota (597) round out the Top-5.
Senior Frida Gustafsson Spang (141) is in a three-way tie for second sitting at 3-under (141) along with Colorado's Esther Lee and Purdue's Linn Andersson. All three golfers trail Minnesota's Celia Kuenster, who holds a one-shot lead (140/4-under) heading into final round action.
Sophomore Lisa Pettersson is tied for seventh with a 36-hole score of 146 (2-over), while senior Nicoline Engstroem Skaug is tied for 26th at 151 (7-over) and true freshman Catherine Ashworth is holds a share of 29th at 152 (8-over). Rounding out the Pirates roster is senior Lane Gakeler, who is tied for 64th (167/23-over). True freshman Kate Law is tied for 59th with a score of 161 (17-over) as an individual.
