CINCINNATI, Ohio – Senior Jorge Montes picked up his third-straight All-American Athletic Conference accolade Saturday as East Carolina participated in the AAC Championships at Voice of America Park in Cincinnati. The men finished in seventh place while the women took 11th.
Â
"We obviously didn't run as well as we would've liked to," Program Director and head coach Curt Kraft said. "Coming into this meet, everybody felt really good about themselves. Anytime your expectations are very high and you don't meet those expectations, there is obviously disappointment. We are very proud of Jorge Montes for being named to the AAC All-Conference Team. We have to get back to work and get ready for the regional championships."
Â
Montes finished 12th in the field in a time of 25:06.6 as the top 15 runners earned all-conference medals. His classmate, Pol Solanelles, ended up just outside of league honors - placing 20th in a time of 25:36.4.
Â
On the women's side, sophomore Victoria Cooke was the top ECU finisher as she crossed the finish line in 22:18.9. Another sophomore, Grace Sullivan, took 48th place with a time of 22:40.6.
Â
East Carolina returns to action in a week, traveling over to Cary for the Three Stripe Invitational at the WakeMed Soccer Park.
