GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday, Nov. 11, in Charlottesville, Va.
Â
The women's 6K race begins at 11 a.m. while the men's 10k event is scheduled for 12 noon. Admission is free but fans will have to pay $5 to park at the Panorama Farms complex. The NCAA is also providing live results for those wishing to track the meet.
Â
"Both teams are very excited to attend this regional championship," Head Coach Curt Kraft said. "After two weeks of good training and some good mental and physical rest, we are eager to close out the season on a high note. The Southeast Regional is one of the toughest in the entire country. This will be a good test for both teams to see how much we've improved since our conference championships. One of the things that I have been most excited about all year long is that there has been a high energy level and the student-athletes are having a great time at what they're doing."
Â
Senior Jorge Montes enters the regional with some momentum after picking up his third consecutive all-conference honor at the American Athletic Conference Championships. His 12th-place finish helped the men take seventh place. On the women's side, sophomores Grace Sullivan and Victoria Cooke have been the top two runners for the Pirates all season. Cooke captured 36th place at the league meet as the fastest ECU competitor.
Â
Should either team or an individual qualify out of the regional and into the NCAA Championship, that meet is scheduled for Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
