Frida Spang Tied For First At UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. - East Carolina senior Frida Gustafsson Spang moved up seven spots into a tie for first after carding a 4-under 68 during second round action at the UCF Challenge. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,349-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Spang (141), who is tied with Missouri's Michelle Butler, shot a 3-under par 34 on the back nine to get her day started off right recording birdies at the 15th, 16th and 18th holes. After five-straight pars at the turn, she birded the sixth and eight holes and bogeyed the seventh to finish with a 1-under 34 on the front nine.
Sophomore Lisa Pettersson (152) moved up 19 spots into a tie for 40th with a 1-over 73. She recorded birdies on the first and seventh holes, while collecting three bogeys and 13 pars. Senior Nicoline Engstroem Skaug jumped six spots in the standings and is tied for 64th at 155 (11-over). Skaug was 1-under par through the first 11 holes before posting bogeys on four of her next six holes.
Freshman Kate Law (156) fired a second round score of 75 (3-over) moving up two spots into a tie for 68th. Fellow classmate Catherine Ashworth (154) dropped 29 spots with a 6-over par 78 which included four birdies. She enters final round action tied for 40th.
Twenty-fifth ranked Missouri (584) took over the team lead after firing an impressive 5-under 283 and holds a three-shot lead over Tulane (587) heading into final round action. Rounding out the top five are No. 15 Iowa State (588) in third followed by No. 42 Houston (590) and Kentucky (595). The Pirates moved up two spots and are currently in ninth place with a two-day score of 599.
Final round action gets underway Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. (EST).
