ECU In Third Place At 3M Augusta Invitational

AUGUST, Ga. - No. 35 East Carolina posted an opening round score of 295 (7-over) and are currently sitting in third place at the 3M Augusta Invitational after 18 holes. The event is being held at the Forest Hills Golf Club.
Originally scheduled for three days of 18 holes from Friday-Sunday, the event has been reduced to two days with 36 holes being played Saturday due to potential inclement weather in the are later in the weekend.
Thirty-third ranked Furman and East Tennessee State sit atop the leaderboard after carding rounds of 290 (2-over) and are just five shots ahead of the Pirates. Host No. 42 Augusta and Kennesaw State round out the top five in a tie for fourth with a score of 298 (10-over).
Nicoline Engstroem Skaug leads the Pirates and is tied for ninth place after posting an even par score of 72. Fellow classmate and Frida Gustafsson Spang is one shot back in a tie for 13th following her round of 73 (1-over). Prior to the start of the tournament, Spang garnered a No. 29 national ranking by Golfstat - the highest individual ranking by an ECU women's golfer in the spring.
Rounding out the Pirates roster are Kate Law (t17/74/2-over), Lisa Pettersson (t34/76/4-over) and Catherine Ashworth (t34/76/4-over).
The event will conclude Saturday morning with 36 holes and a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (EST).
