ECU Opens Play At River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. - East Carolina freshman Catherine Ashworth (152/8-over) carded a pair of 76's and is currently tied for ninth place after 36 holes at the River Landing Classic. The two-day, 54-hole event is being held at the River Landing Golf Course.
The Pirates, who are co-hosting the event with UNC Wilmington, ended the first day in third place after posting a 611 (35-over) team score through 36 holes. Harvard, which boasts three players in the top 10, used a 3-over par effort in the first round to take the lead heading into Sunday's final round.
Pirate sophomore Lisa Pettersson carded rounds of 73 and 80 and is currently tied for 13th with a score of 153. Senior Frida Gustafsson Spang (154), who is ranked seventh nationally by Golfstat, is tied for 17th heading into final round action following rounds of 75 and 79.
Rounding out the Pirates roster are freshman Kate Law (155/11-over) and senior Nicoline Engstroem Skaug (156/12-over) who are tied for 23rd and 26th respectively. Senior Lane Gakeler (172/28-over) is tied for 70th as an individual.
ECU closed out play at the River Landing Classic on Sunday with the third round, which is scheduled for an 8:45 (ET) shotgun start.
