GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU women's soccer team (6-8-2, 1-6) heads to Houston to take on the Cougars (6-8-1, 2-5-0) Sunday afternoon at the Carl Lewis Complex. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
ECU is coming off a 1-0 road loss at SMU on Thursday night in which Michelle Newhouse matched a career-high eight saves. The Pirates are led by Courtney Cash who has six goals and 14 points. Jenna Geist has a team-best four assists and a goal for six points while Cashlin Copley matches Geist's point total with a pair of goals and two assists. Newhouse has a 1.18 goals against average and the Pirates are holding opponents to 11.0 shots per game.
Houston is led by Salena Peters who has six goals and one assist for a team-best 13 points this season. Six different Cougars have multiple goals this year and Houston is averaging 1.67 goals per game. Rachel Estopare is 6-6-1 in goal for UH and is ranked second in the American Athletic Conference in total saves with 82.
ECU leads the all-time series 11-2-1 against Houston. The Pirates are 5-1 on the road at UH with their only loss happening in 2010. Last time the two met, they played to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 16, 2016. The tie stopped a streak of five consecutive wins for ECU over Houston.
