Soccer Unable to Overcome Houston's Second Half Rally

Houston, Texas ā Cashlin Copley put the ECU soccer team ahead early on Sunday afternoon but Houston rallied to score four unanswered goals handing the Pirates their ninth loss of the season. ECU falls to 6-9-2 overall and 1-7 in the American Athletic Conference while Houston improves to 7-8-1 and 3-5 in the AAC.

Copley scored off a Michelle Newhouse free kick in the 19th minute for a 1-0 Pirate lead. It marked Copley's third goal of the season and the first career helper for Newhouse. Mia Brascia scored in the 32nd minute for the Cougars to even things at 1-1, a score that would hold through the remainder of the first half.

Houston scored back-to-back goals in the 54th and 55th minutes and added an insurance goal in the 67th minute for the 4-1 win.
