
ECU Trio Earns All-League Honors At AAC Cross Country Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Backed by a pair of all-conference performances, the ECU men's cross country team turned in a fourth-place finish Saturday morning at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships at Belmont Plateau Park. The women ended up in a sixth-place tie with Wichita State.
The men's result is the highest since the program joined the AAC.
Senior Bakri Abushouk and junior Nick Ciaccia finished in fourth and 14th place respectively to earn all-conference accolades. The pair produced times of 25:18 and 26:01 in the 8K. Sophomore Dean Abushouk just missed garnering all-league honors, finishing in 17th place with a time of 26:07.
On the women's side, junior Grace Sullivan ran a 6K time of 21:55 to capture an all-conference nod. Sophomore Mikayla Stoudt was the next-best finisher for the Pirates, taking 35th place in a time of 22:57.
Next up for ECU is the NCAA Southeast Regional, scheduled for Nov. 10 in Charlottesville, Va.
