
Law Finishes Tied For 14th At Briar's Creek Invitational

JONES ISLAND, S.C. – Sophomore Kate Law carded a final round 74 (2-over par) to finish tied for 14th at the 2017 Briar's Creek Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is being held at the par-72, 6,101-yard Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
Law posted a two-day total of 216 (even par) for her fourth Top-20 finish of the season (fifth Top-25). On the day she registered three birdies, five bogeys, one double-bogey and nine pars for a pair of 36's on the front and back nine. Law ranked among the tournament leaders in total birdies (t3rd/14), par-3 scoring (t16/3.08) and par-5 scoring (t16/4.67).
Freshman Dorthea Forbrigd and junior Lisa Pettersson claimed a share of 35th place finishing with scores of 221 (5-over par). Forbrigd shot a 37 on the front nine and a 35 on the back for an even-par 72, which consisted of three birdies, one bogey, one double-bogey and 13 pars. Pettersson cared a 38 on the front nine and 35 on the back for a 1-over par 73. On the afternoon, she had three birdies, two bogeys, one double-bogey and 12 pars.
Rounding out the Pirates roster were freshman Siranon Shoomee (224) and sophomore Catherine Ashworth (237) who finished tied for 49th and 84th.
Sixth-ranked Florida won its third-straight Briar's Creek Invitational team title with a new tournament record of 849 (15-under) finishing 18 shots ahead of Campbell (867). No. 27 Illinois (868) took third followed by No. 15 Miami (870) and No. 42 Auburn (871). Forty-ninth ranked ECU finished tied for 10th with No. 35 North Carolina with a score of 882 (18-over).
ECU (86-41-2) will be back in action on Sunday, April 9 when they travel to Napa, Calif. to participate in the Silverado Showdown for three days.
