PALM COAST, Fla. ā East Carolina carded a final round 294 (6-over par) Tuesday at the 2017 American Women's Golf Championships to finish fourth with a score of 882. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club.
Freshman Siranon Shoomee (218) posted her third Top-10 finish of the season after her final round of 76 (4-over), which included a birdie and 15 pars. Junior Lisa Pettersson and freshman Dorthea Forbrigd both claimed a share of 13th place after both carded even-par rounds and finishing with a tournament score of 220. Rounding the Pirates roster were sophomores Kate Law (228) and Carley Cox (229) who finished tied for 29th and 32nd.
No. 28 UCF (860/4-under) claimed the team title and The American's automatic bid to NCAA Regionals after its round of 287 finishing three shots ahead of No. 39 SMU (863/1-under). Forty-fourth ranked Houston (867/3-over) took third followed by ECU, Tulsa (888/24-over), Cincinnati (888/24-over), USF (889/25-over), Tulane (896/32-over) and Memphis (915/51-over).
UCF's Ashley Holder (209/7-under) took home the individual title after her final round 69 (3-under) finishing one shot ahead of SMU's Brigitte Dunne (210). Houston's Leonie Harm (212/4-under) took third following a 4-over par round of 76.
The Pirates (93-58-2) will have to wait until Thursday, April 27 to see if they are selected to participate in NCAA Regional action. The field will be announced live on the Golf Channel at 10 a.m. (ET).
