Pirates To Play At Coastal Carolina And Robert Allison Invites
October 25, 2018 | Women's Tennis
GREENVILLE, N.C. – With just two weekends left in the fall season, the ECU women's tennis team will split this weekend, with members of the team competing at both the Coastal Carolina Invitational and the Roberta Allison Fall Classic, which is hosted by Alabama.
Â
A pair of Pirates will head to the Roberta Allison Fall Classic. Alisa Diercksen and Lisa Hofbauer will represent ECU a week after they both competed in the ITA Carolina Regionals. Diercksen leads ECU with a 5-3 singles record so far this season and is coming off winning three matches at the regional. Hofbauer dropped her first singles match of the season at the regional, but bounced back to win three straight matches and reach the consolation semifinals. The tandem will compete together in doubles play as well, the first time they have paired together this fall. Last year, Diercksen and Hofbauer were 4-2 as a doubles duo.
Â
ECU will send seven Pirates to compete at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Nastja Rettich is second on the team with a 3-2 record after she went 1-1 at last weekend's regional championships. The other six Pirates are returning to the courts for the first time since the Campbell Fall Invitational on Sept. 29. Hsia Ho Chaio, Martina Paladini-Jennings, Victoria Dixon and Minette Van Vreden are all trying to stay perfect this fall, after going 3-0 at the Campbell Fall Invite. Sofia Anthony and Annija Veinsteina are both looking to recover from 1-2 starts to the fall.
Â
The Roberta Allison Fall Classic will get started on Friday, while the Coastal Carolina Invitational is scheduled to begin on Saturday.
