ECU Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

GREENVILLE, N.C. – In the middle of a strong season on the field, the ECU women's soccer team has also been rewarded for its success in the classroom as the Pirates earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year.

"We are very proud of the work our ladies put in on the field and more importantly, in the classroom," said head coach Jason Hamilton. "We are trying to help prepare them for life after college. We are trying to instill good habits in their everyday life to help them achieve all of their goals. These young women will be very successful in their careers and we are humbled to be a part of their development."

In order to earn the Team Academic Award, teams needed to post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Pirates easily cleared that bar, finishing with a mark of 3.43 as a team.

It is the 17th time the Pirates have earned the award since first winning it in 1999, including the past four seasons and 14 of the past 15 years. ECU is one of five teams from the AAC to earn the 2018 edition.
