CINCINNATI, STATE OF OHIO COACHING "CONNECTIONS"
Two members of ECU's current full-time coaching staff spent time on collegiate football staff s in the state of Ohio, including one who worked directly with the Cincinnati program - offensive line coach Don Mahoney, who served in the same capacity with the Bearcats in 2010, 2011 and 2012 ... Serving on Butch Jones' staff , Mahoney helped UC to back-to-back 10-3 records and bowl appearances (Liberty, Belk) during the last two years of his tenure ... The other is running backs coach Jason Nichols, who spent five years coaching in the state of Ohio with two Mid-American Conference programs ... From 2005 to 2008, Nichols was receivers coach at Kent State before moving over to Toledo to serve in the same role during the 2009 campaign.
AGAINST THE BUCKEYE STATE
The Pirates have won 21 of 33 all-time matchups (21-12) against FBS programs from the state of Ohio ... Additionally, the Pirates have enjoyed recent success during Week 11 of their schedule, winning six of the last seven (and seven of nine) contests.
ON THE ROAD
