ECU Claims Gold In Men’s 200 Medley Relay At AAC Championships

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU men's 200-yard medley relay team came from behind to capture the conference title in the event for the first time since 2015 as the Pirates began their quest for a fourth-straight American Athletic Conference championship Wednesday inside the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium in Dallas, Texas.

After one day of competition, the men sit in third place with 93 points while Cincinnati leads the pack with a total of 123 points. On the women's side, the Pirates stand in fourth place with 88 points, trailing first-place Houston who accrued 105 point on the first of four days of competition.

Things To Note
- The ECU 200-meter medley relay squad of junior Tristan Taylor, freshman Jacek Arentewicz, sophomore Gustavo Santos and junior Gavin Erdmann beat out SMU by recording a time of 1:27.78 – more than three seconds faster than its seed time.
- Senior Alicia Rouche and junior Sara Blank took fifth and sixth in the 3-meter diving finals while the women's 800-meter freestyle relay team tied for second.
- Freshman Devin Nugent was fifth in the 1-meter diving 'A' final after qualifying in seventh place in the prelims.
- The women's 200-yard medley relay squad ended up in fifth place in a time of 1:41.03 – over one second faster than its seed time.
