
Softball Falls At Tulsa 5-0 In AAC Series Opener

TULSA, Okla. – Defending league champion Tulsa scored the game's only runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday evening to record a 5-0 American Athletic Conference softball victory over ECU at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

How It Happened
Emily Watson and Erin Poepping allowed just three hits between them in the first four innings as no runs came across in the early stages of the contest.
Tulsa broke through in the bottom of the fifth when Rylie Spell hit a one-out home run to center field to give her team a 1-0 advantage. Morgan Neal and Tori Stafford followed with a pair of two-run doubles to leave the Golden Hurricane with a 5-0 lead moving to the sixth inning.
Meredith Burroughs led off the top of the seventh with a single to left field before Tate McClellan drew a four-pitch walk as ECU attempted to rally. The Pirates were unable to crack the scoreboard in the end and the game came to a close with a fly ball out, strikeout and a 2-5 caught stealing.
