PROVIDENCE, R.I. – ECU junior Carley Cox and sophomore Dorthea Forbrigd have been named to the 2018 American Athletic All-Conference team the league announced Wednesday afternoon. With the duos selection, the Pirates have had a least one representative on the yearly team since joining the American in the Fall of 2014.
Â
"I'm very proud of Carley and Dorthea for being named to the all-conference team," ECU head coach Kevin Williams said. "We are very honored to have two named to the team in a very strong conference. Both have worked extremely hard and are deserving of this honor."
Â
Forbrigd, who earned AAC Golfer-of-the-Month honors in September, has recorded seven Top 14 finishes and placed in the Top 34 in all 11 events during her sophomore season. The Oslo, Norway native finished runner-up at the 2018 American Championships after posting a 5-under par 211 (tying career-low score) where she lost in a playoff hole to Wichita State's Taryn Torgerson. She also finished second at the Cardinal Cup (218/3-over) and tied for fifth at the Pinehurst Challenge (211/5-under). On the season, Forbrigd posted a team-best 72.97 seasonal stroke average that currently ranks second on ECU's single-season charts. In all, she has seven Top 20 finishes, posted par or better in 18 of 32 rounds with five sub-70 scores including a 67 in the final round of The American Championships that tied her career-low 18-hole score.
