Women's Tennis Sweeps Non-Conference Home Matches

Greenville, N.C. --- The ECU Women's tennis team (15-8, 1-5) wrapped the home-regular season up with a pair of non-conference wins on Saturday. The Pirates defeated VCU (12-4, 1-0) 4-3 to start the day, before knocking off North Carolina A&T (1-18,1-4) in the home finale, 6-1, at the ECU indoor tennis facility.

The purple and gold closed their 2017-18 home slate with a perfect record of 7-0.

In the first match of the day, VCU took the doubles point with a pair of wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. ECU would battle back from being down 3-1 early to win the match. Wins from Alisa Diercksen, Annija Veinsteina and Hsia Ho Chiao at the back three spots clinched the Pirates win.

Against the Aggies, ECU secured the doubles point. Sarah Sarjoo and Veinsteina secured the Pirates first win of the day, 6-0, at the No. 3 duos position. Diercksen and Lisa Hofbauer would clinch the point with a 6-0 victory at the top doubles slot.
