September 06, 2018 | Lacrosse
GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU women's lacrosse assistant coach Emily Parros has been named to the U.S. women's national lacrosse team roster for the Team USA Fall Classic on Oct. 6. Â
Â
The October event will see Team USA take on reigning NCAA champion James Madison at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. Parros was one of 27 players chosen to represent the USA.
Â
Parros was a two-time team captain at North Carolina and finished her senior season as a Synapse Sports All-American and was a member of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List (the nation's top player). She has familiarity with the James Madison program, serving as an assistant coach for the Dukes from 2013-15.
Â
"Emily is a tireless competitor, mentor, and coach and our Pirate Lacrosse Family is very proud and happy for her to have this opportunity to compete for Team USA," said ECU head coach Amanda Barnes. Â

Â
Parros, along with fellow assistant coach Lexi Cross, spent this past summer playing for the Philadelphia Force in the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX). The pair helped the Force finish as the top seed after the league's regular season, followed by winning a pair of playoff games to win the league title. Parros scored in the Force's 13-7 win over the Boston Storm to help clinch the championship.
Â
"I'm proud of the dedication and service Coach Parros and Coach Cross have given to the UWLX league and am excited to see them win the Championship with the Philly Force," Barnes said. "They partnered an incredibly busy recruiting schedule with some grueling training and travel so that they could continue to compete at the highest level in our sport. Their commitment to the advancement of our sport, and the women's professional league, is a testament to their passion and work ethic."
Â
Like Parros, Cross earned All-America honors in college, as she was a defender at James Madison. Cross was a three-year starter for the Dukes and helped propel JMU into the top 20 nationally while serving as team captain during her senior season.
