Pirate Attack Readies For 2019
February 06, 2019 | Lacrosse
GREENVILLE, N.C. – With four returners and four newcomers, the ECU women's lacrosse team will look to field a balanced attack during the 2019 season.
"I'm excited about the offensive growth we've seen at this point in preseason," said head coach Amanda Barnes Moore. "We are working hard to diversify our offensive threats to cage and learn each other's strengths in our offensive sets."

Ally Stanton returns for her sophomore year after leading ECU's attackers in scoring during her freshman campaign. Stanton finished the 2018 season with 22 goals and seven assists, both of which ranked second on the team and she led the Pirates with 29 points overall. Stanton was consistent in 2018, recording at least one point in 15 of the 17 games. She had her biggest game of the season against Kennesaw State, pouring in six goals and added an assist.
Also returning are the two oldest players on the roster, juniors Emma Bowman and Mackell Schultes. Bowman led the Pirates in assists last season, handing out 11 helpers to go with 14 goals. Her trio of assists in the win over Gardner-Webb was the highest single-game total for ECU. Schultes finished last season with 15 goals and three assists.
Three newcomers will look to make an impact this season. Hannah Rzempoluch joins the team from Farmingdale, N.Y., where she helped lead the Dalers to a county championship. Caroline Inderlied arrives from Virginia Beach, Va., where she was named US Lacrosse First-Team All-America in 2018 after she helped First Colonial qualify for the 2018 Hampton Roads Lacrosse semifinals, which was the furthest postseason run in school history. Megan Tryniski is a native of Cicero, N.Y., and she finished her prep career with 119 points on 87 goals and 32 assists.
Rounding out the attack is sophomore Alex Nicoletti and freshman Rachel Zechman.
Along with scoring, the ECU attack contributed on ground balls and draw controls in 2018. Stanton, Bowman and Schultes all reached double digits in ground balls, while Stanton added 10 draw controls.
ECU opens its season with a pair of home games inside Johnson Stadium next weekend. The season opener is on Friday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m, against Winthrop, followed by a 1 p.m., game on Sunday, Feb. 10 against Gardner-Webb.
