GREENVILLE, N.C. – The ECU softball team will compete in its final non-conference weekend of the season March 15-17 as participants in the Mason Invitational on the campus of George Mason University. The Pirates, with a 14-10 overall record, are slated to face Sacred Heart, Cornell and the host Patriots.

ECU began its swing through Virginia Wednesday with a doubleheader split at Longwood. The Pirates captured the opener 8-7 following a seventh-inning grand slam off the bat of Logan Wood. The Lancers were able to salvage a split of the twinbill with a 3-2 extra-inning decision in the nightcap.

The sophomore duo of Tyler King and Ashleigh Inae paces the squad offensively with respective .395 and .384 batting averages. King leads the team in hits (34) and stolen bases (10) while Inae is tops in runs scored (25). Rachel McCollum is also an offensive catalyst for the squad, batting .377 with four home runs and a team-high 27 RBI. Tate McClellan sports six home runs and 21 RBI as well as 12 walks drawn. Collectively, ECU is hitting .301 with 31 doubles, four triples and 15 home runs as well as 26 stolen bases.

In the circle, Erin Poepping owns a 10-6 record with a 2.37 earned run average and 73 strikeouts in 91.2 innings pitched.
