
Carson And Forbrigd Named To American All-Conference Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – ECU sophomore Kathryn Carson and junior Dorthea Forbrigd have been named to the 2019 American Athletic All-Conference team the league announced Friday afternoon. With the duos selections, the Pirates have had at least one representative on the yearly team since joining the American in the Fall of 2014.

Carson, the 2018 American Freshman-of-the-Year, earns her first career all-conference accolade after posting a 74.23 seasonal stroke average to rank second on the team and 11th all-time in the Pirate annuals. The Mooresville, N.C. native participated in all 10 events recording one Top 10, two Top 15 and five Top 25 finishes.

At the Florida Gator Invitational, Carson posted a season-low score of 215 that included an opening round 68, which tied her career-best 18-hole score. The following week she earned a 10th place finish at the Briar's Creek Invitational shooting an even-par score of 216 for her best placement of the season. In her last event, Carson shot a 7-over par 223 claiming a share of 19th place at the 2019 AAC Championships.

Forbrigd took home her second-straight all-conference honor after posting a team-best 72.37 scoring average, which ranks as the second-best single-season mark in program history (Frida Gustafsson Spang, 72.25 in 2015-16 season). She won her second career event at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic where he carded a personal-best tournament score of 207 (7-under) that included rounds of 67, 73 and 69. In all, she registered three Top 10, four Top 15 and nine Top 25 finishes.

The Oslo, Norway native shot 72 or better in half of her rounds (15 of 30) and in six rounds posted scores under 70, including tying her career-low 18-hole score of 65 during the final round of the Florida Gator Invitational where she finished tied for second and earned AAC Golfer-of-the-Week accolades. At the 2019 AAC Championships, she claimed a share of third place with a 4-under par 212 marking her second-straight conference championship she finished in the Top 3 (other: 2018 finished tied for first and lost in playoff hole). In the Pirate annuals, her 73.35 career scoring average stands second to Spang who closed out her career in 2016 with a 73.31 average.

The Pirates (70-64), who are currently ranked No. 55 nationally by Golfstat, will have to wait until Wednesday, April 24 to see if they are selected to play in a NCAA Regional. The field will be announced live on the Golf Channel at 6 p.m. (ET).
