Stanton Named Second-Team All-Conference

Providence, R.I. – Following the first season playing in the AAC, ECU women's lacrosse sophomore Ally Stanton was named to the American Athletic Conference Second Team, as announced by league officials on Wednesday afternoon.

"We're extremely proud of Ally and happy that she is being recognized for all of her hard work and the contributions she made on the field throughout our first season competing in the AAC," said head coach Amanda Barnes Moore. "The future is bright for Ally and we can't wait to continue competing and building this fall with the team that is returning while welcoming new faces to the fold."

Stanton led ECU in points for the second straight season. The sophomore from Bridgewater, N.J., set a new single-season ECU record by racking up 39 points on 26 goals and 13 assists. She led ECU both in free position goals (10) and free position shots (20).

Stanton recorded at least one point in 15 of ECU's 17 games, including scoring three goals and handing out three assists in a win over Delaware State. That was one of four hat tricks for Stanton, with the others coming in wins over Saint Francis and Winthrop as well as against conference foe Vanderbilt. Along with her offensive contributions, Stanton scooped up 15 ground balls and caused three turnovers.

ECU finished the season 5-12, a three-win improvement over the 2018 inaugural season. The Pirates will bring back all of its players for the 2020 season as they look to earn their first bid to the American Athletic Conference Championship.
