GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina makes a rare 2021 home appearance this weekend, welcoming Tulsa to Max R. Joyner Stadium for an American Athletic Conference series. The Pirates and Golden Hurricane will play four times over three days from April 23-25.

The teams will kick off the set with a doubleheader beginning Friday at 2 p.m. The series continues Saturday with a single game at 2 p.m. before wrapping up Sunday at Noon.

The Pirates (11-25, 2-10 AAC) dropped a 5-4 decision in eight innings at UNC Greensboro Wednesday after the Spartans rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning and walked off in the eighth frame. Rachel McCollum and Chandley Garner recorded two hits apiece and drove in two runs each.

McCollum leads East Carolina in batting average (.366), hits (41) and doubles (8) while Garner has posted a squad-high nine home runs and 24 RBI. Kama Woodall has anchored the pitching staff to the tune of a 6-13 record, 4.14 earned run average, nine complete games and 77 strikeouts in 130.1 innings of work. She did not throw at UNCG Wednesday.

Tulsa brings a 17-10 overall record and 8-3 league mark to Greenville, most recently sweeping a four-game set at Memphis last weekend. Alexis Perry was tabbed the AAC Player of the Week, setting a new program single-game record for runs batted in during the third game of the series. She drove in seven Hurricane batters on three hits, ending the game with a double, grand slam and a run scored in the 11-6 win.

12 contests remain before the AAC Tournament in Tulsa. After its series against the Golden Hurricane, East Carolina travels to South Florida then wraps up the regular season at home against Memphis.

• Tulsa leads the series with East Carolina, 30-13

• The teams last met during the 2019 season when Tulsa won two of three at the then-named ECU Softball Stadium. ECU exacted its revenge in the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Houston, knocking off the second-seeded Golden Hurricane 4-3 in eight innings in the quarterfinals
