CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team heads to Chapel Hill this Wednesday evening for a midweek tilt with North Carolina at Anderson Stadium. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcasted on ACC Network with Drew Carter and Brittany McKinney on the call.

The Pirates are coming off a tough weekend in Tampa where ECU was swept by South Florida in the conference-opening series for both teams. ECU's offense sputtered for much of the weekend only recording 16 hits over three games.

Taylor Edwards leads the Pirates at the plate, batting .371 (5th in AAC), is second in the AAC with five triples (t-3rd in NCAA) this season and has notched eight games with multiple hits to lead the Pirates. Edwards was named to the AAC Honor Roll for the second time this season on Mar. 13 has been the definition of the utility position playing outfield, first base and designated player so far for the Pirates. Fellow outfielder Taudrea Sinnie is tied for the league lead in stolen bases with 13 and has been successful on every stolen base attempt. Logan Sutton leads the team in home runs with four and Addy Bullis holds a 12-4 mark in the circle with a 1.52 ERA and 70 strikeouts.

Scouting the Tar Heels
The Tar Heels bounced back to win the season series against Boston College, winning its last two games after dropping the series opener. Abby Settlemere leads Carolina at the plate with a .362 batting average, 25 RBI and eight home runs and the Heels have four players who currently bat .300 or higher at the plate. Lilli Backes leads the Heels' pitching staff with an ERA of 2.81 and 61 strikeouts in 22 appearances in the circle. Since 2005, North Carolina leads the series with East Carolina 15-3 and won the last meeting 5-0 on Mar. 27, 2019 in Greenville.
