GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina lacrosse team will take a pause from AAC play as they host the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in Johnson Stadium. Attendance is free to fans and the game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with Dennis Cox and Debbie Taylor on the call.

Last Time Out
The Pirates matched the program's highest single-quarter scoring output with a nine-goal fourth quarter to blow past Cincinnati last time out. The game was close most of the way, but ECU never trailed after jumping out to an early lead and used four goals and an assist by Caroline Kimel and a quartet of goals by Camryn Pennypacker to open up a 10-goal margin.

Scouting the Tar Heels
North Carolina enters the game with a resume few can argue with. The defending National Champions are ranked No. 5 in the nation but after an undefeated 2022 campaign, have lost a pair of games this year, both on the road against top-15 opponents. Reilly Casey and Caitlyn Wurzburger lead the Tar Heels with 50 and 48 points, respectively on the season while four players have contributed 20-plus draw controls on the season.
Â
Series History
The Pirates and Tar Heels have met just once, a 2019 contest which took place in Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill during the construction of Dorrance Field. UNC took the game handily with a 15-0 first-half margin and a 21-3 final score. Tar Heel great Jamie Ortega scored four goals in the game to lead all scorers.
