June 04, 2024 | Lacrosse
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Alexandra Giacolone has been named as Assistant Coach for East Carolina Lacrosse, the program announced Tuesday.
"We are beyond excited to welcome Alex back to campus!" said Head Coach Brittany Dipper. "Alex is the most decorated defender in program history, whose love and knowledge for the game will benefit our student-athletes in countless ways. Her passion for ECU and the program will be a great addition to our coaching staff."
Giacolone joins the Pirates coaching staff after an illustrious playing career in Purple and Gold. She finished her time on the field as the program record holder in career caused turnovers (90) and ground balls (146) in 67 games played, starting 65.Â
"I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to transition into a coaching role here at ECU," said Giacolone. "My four years at ECU helped shape me into the player and person I am today, so now I am looking forward to continue the growth of the program alongside Coach Dipper in this new role. ECU is such a special place and I cannot wait to see what this program has in store for 2024-2025. Go Pirates!"
On the field, Giacolone was a three-time All-Conference performer and along with Caroline Kimel was one of the first two East Carolina lacrosse players named to the IWLCA All-Region team.
Native of Manorville, N.Y., Giacolone graduated from East Carolina in the spring with a degree in Special Education Curriculum.
