GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team is set to begin its five-game homestand on Tuesday evening when the Pirates welcome Campbell to Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ecupirates.com with Patrick Johnson on the call.
The Pirates are led at the plate by Kanisha Anderson's .434 batting average (2nd in AAC) and the speedy sophomore leads the team with 19 multi-hit games this season. Emma Jackson, Morgan Johnson and Annie Kate Dalton combine for 36 of the Pirates' 54 home runs, which is first in the league (27th in NCAA). Taylor Apple (3.25 ERA, 99 Ks) and Kendall Frost (3.79 ERA, 86 Ks) are the two main arms in the circle for ECU. The Pirates are just five home runs away from setting a new program record for home runs in a season as a team with 58 hits by the 2007 team being the record mark. Jackson is four homers away from passing Isonette Polonius who hit a program record 18 home runs in 1999.
Weekly Recap
ECU is coming off a 1-3 week, falling at North Carolina last Wednesday in nine innings, 7-6, followed by losing the first two games of last weekend's series to Wichita State but the Pirates bounced back after a tough loss on Saturday to avoid the series sweep with a 5-3 win in nine innings on Sunday. Emma Jackson came up clutch with the go-ahead, two-run homer in the top of the ninth while Kendall Frost was strong in the circle, tying a career-high with eight strikeouts.
Scouting the Camels
